Lanarkshire Mountain Bike Club

PROBABLY THE BEST MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB IN . . . WELL LANARKSHIRE

Started off at Brownside Farm 9.48am sharp. First climb is known locally as Killer Hill, a wide and hard packed trail. Then we went around the Barrehead golf course. Gery gave us a nice comedy moment trying to ride up a small wet slippery slab. Ouch.
We kept climbing up to Nipple Hill on a soft grassy track. Then the fun started with a downhill section on grass to Glenburn reservoir and carried on to a rooty downhill section in the woods. At this time of the year, the roots are hidden under dead leafs, so it is even more fun! Then we climbed on a tarmac path to Robertson car park, crossed the road, climbed to the radio masts where we lost Alistair the last time. Alistair was still nowhere to be seen so we went on towards Johnstone on grass trails followed by a rooty track in a dark wood and then a fast hard packed single track all the way down Bardrain wood.
We crossed a narrow bridge over the burn then went onto a newly resurfaced track and reached an interesting technical rocky drop off. Neil cleaned it with a smile and Richard cleaned it with a vengeance. Shaun took a good tumble.

Then we came across an old man walking his 2 dogs.
Man: “-Is it not difficult to ride in the middle of the tall grass?”
Ollie “-No, that's alright”
Man “-Are you all German?”
Ollie “-Aye, we are all German... Nice dog you have here.”
Man “How do you call this kind of dog?”
Neil: “You tell us, it is your dog...”

Next interesting bit was a short technical downhill section in the woods. I went first and ended up on my arse. Richard cleaned it, but misjudged how slippery was the wooden bridge that followed just after.
We carried on in Rannoch woods and stopped at a vintage bus shelter in Johnstone for a rest. We headed back to Paisley on the cycle path and added a fun loop at Glen Park.
